Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information CATESWEB collects when you use catesweb.com or contact us about a project, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. CATESWEB is a sole proprietorship operated by Christian Ates, based in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan, USA.
Who we are
CATESWEB (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a web design and development business operated by Christian Ates as a sole proprietor. For any privacy question, request, or concern, contact us at ateschristian@gmail.com. We are the “data controller” responsible for the personal information described here.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you submit our project inquiry form, we collect the details you provide, which may include:
- Your name and email address
- Your project type, budget range, industry/niche, and preferred timeline
- Your existing website address (if you provide one)
- Any details, goals, or messages you choose to include
- Any add-ons or care plan you select
If you contact us directly by email, we receive whatever information you include in that message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use our site. Through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager we collect anonymized usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location (city/region level), device and browser type, and referring source. See our Cookie Policy for details and your choices.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and prepare a quote or proposal
- To provide, perform, and manage web design services you engage us for
- To communicate with you about your project and our services
- To understand and improve how our website performs
- To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or abuse
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.
How information is stored and shared
Project inquiries are delivered to us by email and recorded in a private Google Sheet so we can track and follow up on requests. We use the following third-party service providers, who process data only on our behalf:
- Google (Workspace, Sheets, Apps Script, Analytics, Tag Manager) — form delivery, record-keeping, and website analytics.
- Cloudflare — login and file storage for the client portal, described below.
- Stripe — payment processing and billing.
- Our website host and email provider, for delivering the site and our communications.
Client portal. If you are a client, the portal at catesweb.com/portal processes your email address (for login, via Cloudflare Access), files you upload or download (stored in Cloudflare R2), and project details. Billing is handled by Stripe. Cloudflare and Stripe act as processors. Portal data is covered by the access, correction, and deletion process described in this policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect our rights, safety, or property. We never sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Some of these providers are based in the United States. Our site links to third-party platforms (such as Fiverr); once you leave our site, their privacy practices apply, not ours.
How long we keep it
We keep project inquiries and client records for as long as needed to respond to you, deliver and support our services, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements — typically no longer than is reasonably necessary. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see your rights below).
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information — including under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar U.S. state laws. We extend the following rights to all visitors, regardless of location:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your personal information.
- Opt out — opt out of analytics cookies (see our Cookie Policy); we do not sell data, so there is nothing to opt out of there.
- Non-discrimination — we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
How to exercise your rights
Email ateschristian@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request” and tell us what you would like to do. We may need to verify your identity by confirming details associated with your request. We will respond within 45 days; if we need more time we will let you know. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf where the law allows.
Children’s privacy
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, and we rely on established providers (such as Google) for secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
