Featured work

Harvest & Pine
A warm, photo-led site for a farm-to-table restaurant — a daily “picked this morning” menu board, an editorial gallery, and a reservation flow that turns browsers into bookings.

Westshore Heating & Cooling
A bold, high-trust site for an HVAC company — a sticky “call now” bar and a live ballpark-estimate tool that answers the first question every customer asks: what will it cost?

Ironside Barber Co.
A moody, masculine site for a barbershop — a typeset price board, a work gallery, and a booking flow, in a tight editorial style matched to the brand.

Timberline Remodeling
A sturdy, photographic site for a design-build remodeler — built around an interactive before/after slider, a project showcase, and an estimate request.
Compliance audit
Most small-business sites quietly fail accessibility and privacy law — and the owner only finds out when a demand letter arrives. Every audit I run, and every site I build, includes a compliance check at no extra cost. How accessibility-first builds work
ADA & accessibility lawsuits
Thousands of web-accessibility demand letters land on US small businesses every year. Settlements commonly run $5,000–$25,000 — far more than the fix would have cost.
Customers you never see
About 1 in 4 US adults lives with a disability. A site a screen reader or keyboard can’t use quietly turns that traffic away — and Google reads the same signals when it ranks you.
Privacy & legal exposure
Running analytics or a contact form with no privacy policy, cookie notice, or terms is a real liability under state privacy laws (and GDPR if you reach the EU) — with fines that dwarf a small budget.
What the check covers
- WCAG 2.1 AA: contrast, keyboard access, focus order, screen-reader labels
- Headings, alt text, and forms structured so everyone can use them
- Privacy policy, cookie notice, terms, and a user data-rights process
- A plain-English summary of what to fix and why it matters
If the check turns something up — the fix is one flat price
The accessibility fix package brings your existing site to WCAG 2.1 AA, adds the legal pages the law expects (privacy, cookies, terms), and ends with a plain-English report of what changed. $295, done in about a week — a fraction of the cheapest demand-letter settlement.
Simple, fixed pricing
Around Grand Rapids, a professional site runs $3,000–$15,000 from an agency — or $67–599 a month, forever, from a subscription shop. I charge a fixed price, once, and you own everything. No hourly billing, no surprises.

What I do
Hi, I’m Christian, the person behind CATESWEB.
I build websites that look great and actually work — fast, accessible, and built to grow with your business. Every one is hand-built by me, a real person in Grand Rapids you can call, email, or meet for coffee — not a ticket queue, and not AI-generated filler.
It started early. I was the kid who opened “Inspect” on every website just to tinker with it — endlessly let down that my changes disappeared the second I hit refresh. That curiosity turned into a hobby, and the hobby into a craft: a little HTML in school, then years of teaching myself the rest.
Before CATESWEB, I ran the customer-facing side of a Grand Rapids automotive e-commerce company — design, SEO, Google Ads, and analytics for a brand that grew past $1M in annual sales across its own store, Amazon, and eBay. I built the things that earn a customer’s trust and turn browsers into buyers: real-review showcases, before-and-after sliders, the small details most people never notice but always feel.
“I think it’s very important to have a feedback loop, where you’re constantly thinking about what you’ve done and how you could be doing it better.”
Most agencies treat your site like a gig — take the money, ship something generic, and move on. I work the other way.
I take the time to understand your business, your customers, and the people they’re trying to reach. Every project gets my full attention — no outsourcing, no templates, no shortcuts.
I was born and raised in West Michigan and still call Wyoming home. When I’m not building sites, I’m usually up at Higgins Lake, deep in a documentary, or rewatching my two go-tos — the original Top Gun and The Wolf of Wall Street — and keeping up with my son, since I’m a full-time single dad raising a future techie of his own.
Proudly serving Grand Rapids, Kentwood, Walker, Grandville, Rockford, Ada, Cascade, and across Kent County.

Questions, answered
How much does a website cost?
It depends on scope, but every project gets a clear, fixed quote before any work begins — no hourly surprises. See the packages above for a starting point, or reach out for an exact number on your project.
Why are your prices lower than agencies?
Because you’re paying for the work, not the overhead. An agency quote covers their office, account managers, and sales team. I’m one person doing the same craft — design, build, SEO — without any of that baked into the price. The fixed quote is the honest cost of the work itself.
Do I own my website?
Yes — completely. The code, the domain, the content, and every account are yours from day one. Plenty of website companies rent your site back to you: stop paying and it disappears. A CATESWEB site keeps running whether or not we ever work together again.
How long does it take?
Starter sites go live within 7 days of getting your content — guaranteed, or $100 comes off the price. Larger multi-page sites typically take two to four weeks depending on scope. Either way you get a clear timeline before we start, and you see progress every week.
Do you work with small businesses?
Yes — most of my clients are independent and small businesses across Kent County. Every project is built one-on-one with me: no outsourcing, no cookie-cutter templates.
Will my site be fast and work on phones?
Always. Every site is mobile-first and hand-built for speed, since most local traffic comes from phones. It will look and work great on any screen size.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Absolutely. If your current site feels slow or dated, I can rebuild it as a modern, fast, mobile-friendly site while keeping what already works for you.
Do you provide support after launch?
Yes. I can handle updates, hosting guidance, and ongoing improvements after launch, so your site keeps performing without becoming your problem to maintain.
Ready to build something great?
Tell me what you do, what you need, and a link to your current site if you have one. I’ll reply within a day with next steps and a fixed quote.
